| Here's a first look at the
nursery (our ex-guest room). The baby bedding is
"Moon Doggie Royal" from California
Kids (which you can find on IBaby.com if you are interested - they also
do the same pattern in red) and we have used the
same colours and patterns on the back wall of the
room too. Isn't it amazing how you can walk into
Home Depot carrying a pillow and walk out
carrying 3 cans of colour-matched paint! The paint on the back wall is colour
matched to the bedding with stars and a moon
stenciled and outlined by Nikki (who was, of
course, holding her breath since we all know
pregnant women should not be painting nurseries).
The rocking chair and a small chest of drawers
(which is out the left of the picture) were
bought unfinished and painted - the chest of
drawers in blue with yellow knobs. We have also
added a toy box since the main photo was taken.
We painted this yellow and used Chas's
woodworking tools to cut out a Moon Doggie, moon
and star to add to it. On the wall to the left, we
have hung a beautiful quilt made by Lari (Nikki's
sister) using many different fabrics most of
which continue the stars and moons theme. We also intend having a
small constellation of glow-in-the-dark stars
above the door (above where I am standing to take
the pictures). If you are worried about
the apparently-broken fan blades, the picture
below is actually a hastily thrown together
composite of 4 pictures taken on my DC40 (for
which I have no wide-angle lens attachment)!
